Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.
A small forest bird known for the distinctive flaps of skin hanging from its face. It is prized for its meat.

Hens which claim a Template:L will regularly lay between 10 and 14 Template:Ls, which can then be collected by a dwarf with the Template:L labor. If a turkey gobbler is present, and the nest is not set to have its eggs collected, the eggs may be fertilized and eventually hatch into chicks. Chicks will grow into adults in 1 year.

Turkeys are a better food source than Template:Ls due to their larger size, which provide more meat and other products when butchered. Turkeys will also produce a higher number of eggs on average than chickens.
