This article is about an older version of DF.
An enormous bird-like monster that nests in the high mountains. Its hunt can range over the entire known world and it will kill anything it can carry back to its perch.

Giant eagles can be trained into war/hunting giant eagles at a Template:L. They are one of the more preferred animals to train, as they can fly and they are really hard to kill by melee enemies.

They come with Template:L Template:Ls, if the elven Template:L is situated in a mountain area. If you get a chance to buy them Template:Ld, make sure to do so. Try and get a breeding pair if you can and breed them like they're the last eagles on the world; you won't regret it!

They can be extremely annoying to an early fortress due to them killing your migrants mercilessly and flying over your walls.

Also note that Giant Eagles are exotic creatures and require a Template:L to tame.
