Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.
A giant humanoid monster with a single eye set in its forehead.

As the description suggests, cyclopes are large single-eyed humanoids. They are usually found in caves, but can appear above ground as well. Due to their sheer size and the fact that they're building destroyers, they can make quite a mess in your fortress. They are semi-megabeasts and are attracted by wealthy fortresses just like regular megabeasts and titans. You will get a warning message when they appear. When they do they seem to hang around for a while and then beeline for the nearest fortress entrance, probably into one of your cage traps. Dispatch with caution.

Cyclops can be captured in cage traps but are very heavy and your dwarves will move the captured cyclops very slowly to an animal stockpile. Be warned though, if you decide to designate the cyclops to be thrown into your death pit (everyone has a death pit) or transport it around outside its cage, your military dwarves and the dwarf transporting it will begin to attack the cyclops, however, the cyclops won't fight back. In the unit list the captured cyclops will be listed as "caged guest" despite being hostile when roaming free.
