This article is about an older version of DF.

The feather tree is a special tree that grows only in good aligned areas. Unlike other above ground trees, it yields cream colored logs when cut down.

It is also the lightest wood in the game, so it should be used for things that get hauled around very frequently (and probably should not be used to make ballista bolts). It is often recommended to make featherwood crossbows for the fortress guard. Guards will shoot at goblins with the same efficiency they would with metal ones, but they will bash criminals with the butt of their feather-light weapons, rendering justice-administered beatings significantly less lethal.

Beware the unicorns that roam around it, or simply import it from Elven caravans.
