This article is about an older version of DF.

Nether-caps are a type of mushroom-like subterranean tree. Once fully grown, they can be designated for Template:L and produce nether-cap Template:L. They often grow on muddied rock in the 3rd Template:L layer and, once discovered, will begin to grow in any suitable environment within your fortress as well.

Nether-caps and their products are dark indigo, and they have the unique property of being naturally cold, having a fixed Template:L of 10000°U. This fixed temperature has been observed to permit nether-cap wood to be used in Template:Ls to pump Template:L without bursting into flames, but whether or not this wood is truly Template:L is not entirely certain.
