This article is about an older version of DF.

A smelter is a type of Template:L used to process Template:L into more useful Template:Ls of pure Template:L or Template:L, in a process called Template:L. Conventional smelters require Template:L, either Template:L or Template:L.

The Smelter is also the place where Template:L take items to be Template:Led back into Template:Ls. Melting a Template:L item may cause the creator of that item to throw a Template:L.

Building

To build a smelter you need to use a Template:L material, one Template:L or Template:L. The Template:L is then a two-step process - first a Template:L with Template:L skill enabled will bring the chosen material and design it via the Template:L Template:L, and then a dwarf with the relevant construction Template:L enabled (Template:L for rock or rock blocks, any Template:L-type skill for metal) will perform the actual construction. These can be but need not be the same dwarf. Using dwarves with no Template:L training will get the job done, but will result in buildings of slightly less architectural Template:L.

You place a smelter building using the keyboard commands b-e-s, after which your architect dwarf designs it and then your craftsdwarf builds it.

There is also a Template:L of this building, which is built over Template:L and requires no Template:L. Note that the process of making Template:L or Template:L will still need one unit of Template:L or Template:L per Template:L as a reagent.
