This article is about an older version of DF.

Nightwings are humanoid creatures that will sometimes appear in evil biomes. They have unique appearance, having a the head of a jackal, a mane, wings, tail, humanoid body and two needle like horns, which they can use in combat. They are also said to suck blood.

They are very dangerous in adventurer mode and should be avoided by unexperienced players. Encounters in fortress mode are rather rare, though.
