Leggings are armor covering the legs. They are made for either the leather armor (leather, shell and bone) or chain armor level.
Chain leggings are made from one metal bar at a forge by a dwarf with the armorsmith labor enabled.
- Leather leggings are made from one piece of leather
- Shell leggings require one shell
- Bone leggings require 3 stacks of bones (independent of stack size)
Note that the specific type of leather, bone or shell (the creature or fish that was the source of those materials) has no effect on the quality of protection provided, only on the final value of the leggings manufactured.
Greaves are a heavier form of protection for the legs, and are plate armor level protection.
