Q: Do I really need wood.

A: Well wood is a quick, easy way to obtain things like barrels when starting out. However stone is a MUCH more plentiful object and you can make almost anything out of it. Replace barrels with pots, wooden buckets with stone ones and so on. You should keep a decent stockpile of wood for charcoal and beds as they are the only things that are needed in a fort that requires wood. So yes you do need wood but only for beds and charcoal if you can't find any coal. However you should keep a stockpile just in case.

Fort-dependent

Ahh, this depends so much on the fort. I prefer to have my forts' hallways crispy clean... so I run out of stone and end up having to dig up new "stockpiles" to get more. Dree12 02:55, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
