A Militia Captain is an appointed noble that serves as leader of a squad and is required to add dwarves to a squad. He can not be removed from squad/unappointed from the military screen unless he is last member of it.  They can be replaced from the nobles screen.

Captain is a position in the mostly unrealized civilization-wide dwarven army, acting as leader of a squad of ten soldiers. A captain is appointed by the Template:L and commanded by a Template:L.
