Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.

Turtles exist on most maps, and wander in Template:L sources, and along shoreline areas as well. Raw turtles caught by Template:L must be processed at a Template:L by someone with the Template:L Template:L before they can be consumed; turtles brought in the Template:L on embarkation or bought from a Template:L do not require cleaning. Consumption, but not cooking, of a turtle leaves behind a turtle Template:L and turtle Template:Ls. Shells are commonly demanded by dwarves who enter a Template:L, and as such, it may be a good idea to bring a stock of turtles with you upon embark. Like most Template:L, they can be harvested too aggressively, and become depleted until the next repopulating of Template:L. When caught, Template:L can be kept in a terrarium or aquarium.

If your Template:L are not eating your turtles fast enough for your preferences you can always delegate them to a dedicated stockpile in a sealed room, and remove the stockpile and lock the door to let them rot away, or Template:L all other foodstuffs.
