The '''Fishery''' allows you to process raw [[fish]] into ''prepared'' fish, that can be used for eating, cooking or baiting animal traps, extract items from the fish, and [[Captured live fish|capture live fish]] until needed later or as a [[pet]]. Currently fish [[extracts]] have little use.

Caught fish will first be moved to your [[food]] [[stockpile]] where, oddly enough, it doesn't decay (or at least at a much slower rate than in any other place). The Fishery does '''not''' automatically prepare the fish. To prevent an abundance of useless raw [[fish]] filling up your larder, you can queue the task with {{key|r}}epeat orders (which may go for a long time if you have enough [[fisherdwarf|fisherdwarves]] out, but sooner or later you will run out of raw fish and the repeat order will be canceled, so you will have to remember to restart it) or queue up lots of 30 "process raw fish" jobs on the [[manager]] screen.
