The Bookkeeper is an appointed Template:L position. He/she keeps track of all the items in your Fortress, which can be seen itemized in Template:L (z, Stocks) if the accuracy has been set high enough in the nnobles menu. The Bookkeeper uses the Template:L skill, which grants the profession Template:L.
To change the accuracy of the accounts in the Template:L screen, go into the nobles screen, highlight the Bookkeeper position, and enter the settings screen. You can set a desired precision for your Bookkeeper's counts. The higher this is set, the more work is required. Above the lowest precision, your bookkeeper will also require a meager Template:L. Your Bookkeeper will perform the "Update Stockpile Records" task until the desired level of precision is reached.
The "Update Stockpile Records" is very high priority, and a bookkeeper will likely do this instead of any other labors the bookkeeper has active.
When set on the highest precision level, the Bookkeeper gains record keeper skill extremely quickly. Your Bookkeeper can reach legendary status within a season, achieving all attribute gains associated with the position. At the highest precision level, they will continue performing their task even when they have done all the work they need to do; this means that anyone can be made a Bookkeeper and quickly reap large amounts of experience.

- Treasurer at 100,000 fortress Template:L
- Grand Treasurer at 200,000 fortress wealth
- Hoardmaster at 300,000 fortress wealth
Room requirements and consolidating nobles
- While this noble does not require a dining room, they may eat at the chair in their office, and if so will receive a negative Template:L about the lack of tables. For this reason, it may be advisable to assign them a small, personal dining room or put a table in their office.
- It's also acceptable to simply designate a chair in your main dining room for this purpose, at least until their demands grow.
- The bookkeeper has the same room and furniture requirements as the broker and manager. Because all three of these nobles tend to have periodic idle time, it may be possible to have one dwarf serve all three functions, especially in the early years of a fortress, although a broker and a manager have two mutually exclusive skills: Template:L and Template:L, so if that's important you may eventually want two (or more) different dwarves filling those shoes.
