Assuming that you have mined the bituminous coal, the problem is probably that you have no coke to start the first bituminous coal reaction.  Since 1 bituminous coal + 1 coke = 3 coke, you still need 1 coke to start the reaction.  The easiest way to do this is through burning wood at a furnace. --Kingzilla 17:45, 8 January 2008 (EST)

:OK, I have burned 1 wood to create 1 charcoal at a wood furnace (so I can now produce ash as well - which I guess will be helpful at some point) and I can now use my smelter to turn my Bituminous coal into coke. Thanks.GarrieIrons 00:43, 9 January 2008 (EST)

If you make armor out of a metal, and then melt it back into metal bars, is there any loss of metal? Ailure 04:56, 17 March 2008 (EDT)

You only get back roughly 1/3 of the metal which went into an object when you melt it. It's covered in the "Melt" link which shows up in the article. --Janus 07:01, 17 March 2008 (EDT)

:Ah damn, I didn't see that. Guess I'm blind or something :). Thanks! Ailure 09:48, 17 March 2008 (EDT)

Magma-proof rock needed? No.
I thought that was wrong, so I double-checked it to be sure by creating a magma smelter out of gneiss and then queuing up a magnetite smelting job, which it completed. Corrected this article and the Magma smelter one as well.  --Janus 16:15, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
