Order of gems in the shop[edit]

I've added a paragraph about order of gems in the shop. From what I've tested it seems they are always ordered from least valuable to most valuable. But as it goes with DF there might be some other condition, so please, someone confirm this. Also, glass always seem to appear at the end.

I've also included a little about gem setter training, which is a duplicate from v0.31:Gem setter, altho the wording is different. I've included a link to the gem setter page for further info. I think it's on-topic when talking about gem value, and it's only one sentece so it shouldn't hurt that much (in terms of redundancy). Fuco 21:34, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

There are (at least in v .31.12) a few exceptions to the "ordered by value" rule. In particular I've seen at least one or two value 10 gems which appear in the midsts of the value 2 and 3 gems. 202.156.10.234 23:37, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
..and on further checking I've also found that black opal (val 30) comes before claro opal (val 20), and black zircon and almandine (20) come before fire opal (15). So while it's generally true, there are plenty of exceptions. 202.156.10.234 23:54, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Managing two jewellers[edit]

I would like to set up my two jewellers (one a cutting expert, the other a setting expert) each with their own workshop. Is there any way to arrange things so that the Manager will distribute all the "cut gem" jobs to one workshop, and all the "encrust" jobs to the other? Hv 15:35, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, no. --Quietust 16:33, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
It's somewhat manageable if you just cut & set gems in fairly large batches, so that you can micro-manage the cutter & setter using 10 auto-repeat cut/set jobs at a time in 2 different workshops. 202.156.10.234 23:37, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
