v0.31 Talk:Egg production

From Dwarf Fortress Wiki

It looks like egg production is most effective way to get food? I have brought few turkey hens, gave them a chance to breed and now I overburdened with those eggs! If only they could be brewed :) WFrag

I agree. It seems too easy. My food stockpile is full of stacks of *blue peahen egg roast [24]*. Gentgeen 10:15, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

I added a table for the outdoor creatures that lay eggs. I'm not sure which ones of these can actually be collected by your dwarfs, someone who knows more might want to add another column or something. There's still a few creatures to do I expect. --93.96.210.121 14:45, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Very nice. I added the subterranean animals. I think only [PET], [PET_EXOTIC], [COMMON_DOMESTIC], [MOUNT], and [MOUNT_EXOTIC] animals will claim a nest box, and only once they've been tamed. However, this has not been confirmed. Gentgeen 03:25, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Does egg size affect anything? It could be a redundant column. If anyone knows anything it may be worth added a note by the table--93.96.210.121 13:39, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Maybe it affects kitchen clutter? I'm not sure. Apparently cooking eggs is buggy at the moment anyway, over-cluttering the kitchen ([1]). Bognor 14:58, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
It's been theorized that larger eggs take longer to hatch, but I cannot recall where I read that from. --dUMBELLS 17:43, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
