Bifrost is an excellent material for edged weapons and armor, inferior only to adamantine.
It cannot be manufactured directly by dwarves in the current release of Masterwork mod but is "the leftovers" from dispatched Frost Giants. A unit of bifrost can be extracted from Frost Giant corpses within the Alchemist's Laboratory, which does not destroy the corpse proper.
