:I've had fish show up in branches of rivers that I created. I don't know for sure how many fish can be retrieved from one, however, particularly if the main part of the river freezes over. I'll do some more research on this when I can. —Lethosor (talk) 21:31, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Sorry that I am a complete newbie. It took me a while to figure out how to make river drain out of map at edge of map. But then, making an artificial river for safer fishing didn't work for me. The river is not frozen.

I made several branches that ended in dead end.

Made a branch that goes down right beneath the river bed with down stair at river bed, and then up and don stair below. The branch then go to -2 z level near the 1 level fortress i made and finally go down with more up and down stair and go horizontally through edge of map.

Yet other one that I made by channeling at the ground level.

None of these worked...

Only the original river continues to give mussels.

I wonder if the "internal fishery" mentioned here here actually exists.

:You can only catch "river fish" from the river's original tiles, because those are the only ones that are actually linked to the map feature (which is where the animal populations are stored) - if you extend the water elsewhere, it gives you "murky pool" fish instead. --Quietust (talk) 15:32, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
