v0.34:Fat

From Dwarf Fortress Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search
This article is about an older version of DF.

Fat is obtained by butchering an animal. Most animals have a layer of fat between skin and muscle.

It can be rendered into tallow in a kitchen. Tallow is used in the production of soap or can be cooked into meals.

Previously a whole stack of fat was processed per job. Now each process fat job processes a single item from the stack, not the entire stack.

Fat may go rancid if left unprocessed for too long.

When a character is burning, the fat is usually the first thing to go.

Adventure Mode Use

On Adventure Mode, fat is in thought, portable liquid, though it is hardly usable when in a solid state.

When fat is placed in a burning heat, (usually when placed in the fire that surrounds a burning tree/plant) it eventually becomes grease, which is then drinkable for a short while after before it cools back down into fat. (You sometimes may notice a pool of grease being left behind from someone who was burning.)

Though given the usual weight of fat, you might be better off using other liquids.
