There's a chance that default humanoid titans as we know them might cease to exist in DF 2010, '''if that happens''', [[Titan]] should be edited to accomodate info on the old titans and the new ones, instead of keeping a page for something that doesn't exist in the game anymore. In my opinion, the Titan article should be the default page for both Titans ( as in, the overland big boys ) as well as a subarticle on the same page for Forgotten Beasts, since Forgotten Beasts are just basically subterranean Titans.

Really, its silly to keep two pages, one for the old version and one for the new version. It'll only confuse new users and take up more space. Why not just merge both articles, with a section in the end called '''''Titans in old versions''''' just like every other game wiki does with features that have been changed drastically? :The way the admins have set up the version namespaces allows players searching from DF2010 (or whatever it will be called) pages to find DF2010 pages and likewise 40d to 40d and so on. So yeah, it's really confusing right now, but once some time has gone by and all the new stubs have been expanded into full pages and the stable release has gotten everyone playing this version, it'll cease to be an issue. --[[User:Retro|Retro]] 00:03, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

== Combat strategies? ==

Any tips on how to beat them?  Whenever I fight one the military dwarves (both mine and merchant guards) pull off most of its body parts very fast but are then unable to damage it further, though the titan itself doesn't dish out much damage it obviously causes lots of problems having an unending megabeast battle outside my front door.  I've managed to kill them with a constructed cave-in trap but I'd like something less gamey if possible.


I encountered an Ocean Titan made of a blob of fire that had wings.  It jumped down my refuse put and laid waste to my dining halls before I was able to lure it into my farm area.  At some point I noticed both his wings were gone.  I flooded the area in the hope that it was hurting him, but the steam just kept rising.  He finally went down through my resevoir with lots of water and evaporated it all and then blue out my flood gate that was plugging the bottom.  The titan is laying waste to my dwarves now as the lower caverns begin to flood.

Just how do you take on an Ocean Titan made of a blob of fire?

If the titan isn't magma-safe, then you can cause a cave-in over its head to knock it unconcious and make it trigger a cage trap, and then dump the cage into magma. If the titan IS magma safe, your only option might be to repeat the previous method, but then pour water over the magma so it ends up sealed inside solid obsidian for the rest of time. <small>&ndash; [[template:unsigned|unsigned]] comment by [[User:86.151.201.219|86.151.201.219]]</small>

A quick test suggests that titans have most of the same properties as forgotten beasts, with several exceptions: [TITAN] instead of [FEATURE_BEAST], lack of [CARNIVORE], lack of [BIOME], and a small percentage of them seem to be [BENIGN] rather than [LARGE_PREDATOR] (about 8 out of 214 in my initial test). --[[User:Quietust|Quietust]] 20:17, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

:Does a page concerning titan-trapping exist yet? I'd like to present my solution for that issue. I designated a separate shaft from the surface through all cave levels, with a small chamber at each level containing a drawbridge. The shaft is connected to a cell block that will contain my titans. A titan will then route it's way through the shaft and into one of the cells I want it to be trapped in. While the titan attempts to break down the door between cell and fortress, I lift the bridge between cell and shaft, then I lift the bridge between cell and door. Trapped.
:This layout allows me to catch titans from every level, shuffle them between cells if needed, release them to any level as war dogs (do they also love goblins for lunch?), routing them to a cave-in trap for butchering, and so on. One note: if a titan approaches a door from south(didn't try north), it won't keep one square distance blocking the bridge. So better align the cells east-west.
