Sandstone is defined as a clastic sedimentary stone composed of primarily quartz and/or potassium feldspar grains ranging in size from 1/16 of a millimeter to 2 millimeters, most commonly cemented together with either quartz (SiO4), calcite (CaO3), or hematite (Fe2O3). Stones composed of grains larger than 2 milimeters are called either conglomerates (if the grains are round) or breccias (if the grains have sharp angles; however, breccia is not present in Dwarf Fortress), if the grains are smaller than 1/16th of a milimeter, it is called a Siltstone. It is not uncommon for sandstones to contain fossils, in which case, it is called Fossiliferous Sandstone.

Real-World information

Sandstone is defined as a clastic sedimentary stone composed of primarily quartz and/or Template:L grains ranging in size from 1/16 of a millimeter to 2 millimeters, most commonly cemented together with either quartz (SiO4), Template:L (CaO3), or Template:L (Fe2O3). Stones composed of grains larger than 2 milimeters are called either Template:Ls (if the grains are round) or breccias (if the grains have sharp angles; however, breccia is not present in Dwarf Fortress), if the grains are smaller than 1/16th of a milimeter, it is called a Template:L. It is not uncommon for sandstones to contain fossils, in which case, it is called Fossiliferous Sandstone. Template:Rocks
