Herbalists are dwarves with the plant gathering labour. They will gather from plants and bushes that are designated and harvest fruits and seeds.
Uses
Food Production
Herbalists are often used to help with food production in an early fortress as they require no setup. This tactic works best in heavily forested areas. While plant gathering is less efficient than Template:L and significantly less reliable, it also requires minimal space and provides a relatively immediate payoff in comparison.

Herbalists can gather seeds from plants to allow outdoor crops to be planted.
