This article is about an older version of DF.

The command line is used for generating worlds quickly from the Command Prompt in Windows. On Mac OSX and possibly Linux systems, you may edit the df script to use this command line option.

Options

Dwarf Fortress currently offers only one command line option, a world generator.

World Generator

Usage of the -gen parameter allows generating worlds quickly and automatically using batch scripts, by opening a silent and introless dwarf fortress. If a region that already exists is given for the id number, the program will abort. The usage as documented by the game is as follows:

FORMAT:	"Dwarf Fortress.exe" -gen <id number> <seed> <world gen param title>
EXAMPLE:	"Dwarf Fortress.exe" -gen 1 3498 STANDARD
EXAMPLE:	"Dwarf Fortress.exe" -gen 2 RANDOM CUSTOM6
