:I'm not sure I understand this rule. "Cheese" shouldn't go to "cv:cheese maker" because old links to "Cheese" will take the user to "DF2010:Cheese maker"? The bit even mentions that links from old versions are automatically updated to add "40d:" behind them; wouldn't that go to "40d:Cheese" anyway and the changing of the "Cheese" redirect to "cv:Cheese maker" would have no affect?  The explanation does not make sense to me. '''There needs to be a page with all the damned rules on them, because having the rules spread out over a dozen different pages makes people like me waste hours of time just to have it all reverted. This is one of the most disorganized wikis I've ever seen.''' --[[User:Gzalzi|Gzalzi]] 21:27, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

::The reason for "cheese" to not redirect to "cv:cheese maker" is because while it may have been acceptable for 40d (which did not have an actual "cheese" article), DF2010 '''does''' have a "cheese" article which people would then '''not see''' when searching because of the redirect going to the wrong page. As for all of the DF2010 redirects you marked for deletion, you also need to take into account the "article version" headers on each page - as an example, there are explicit pages for [[23a:Waterskin]] and [[40d:Waterskin]] (since military dwarves in those versions never use flasks of other materials), so deleting the redirect from [[DF2010:Waterskin]] to [[DF2010:Flask]] would break navigation between article versions. --[[User:Quietust|Quietust]] 21:34, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

:::In that hypothetical example, there is a "DF2010:Cheese" page but "Cheese" redirects to "cv:Cheese maker." If there are any situations like that in the redirects I made, they were already broken before I did anything (and for a lot of them, I '''know''' there were not because a lot of them were already "DF2010" pages). I know there are pages for different version of articles for every verson of the game. That's why I told any regular namespaces to go to the most recent version, and those redirects which I marked for deletion (which aren't necessary because they aren't searchable) I used <nowiki>#REDIRECT [[DF2010:name]]</nowiki> so that they wouldn't link to older or newer (once a new version is out) articles. How does linking "DF2010:whatever" to "DF2010:properwhatever" break versions? I can see that if I linked "40d:whatever" with "cv:properwhatever" it would be broken because it would go to DF2010, but that isn't the case with any of my edits. I'm still not understanding how any of what I did is wrong. --[[User:Gzalzi|Gzalzi]] 21:44, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
