==Gnome Build==

Gnomes are dwarf-like surface-dwellling creatures who are about half the size of dwarves.  They are a frequent pest for dwarven societies because they will loot and plunder unguarded resources.  Sometimes the term is applied disaffectionately for those dwarves who choose to build stone buildings and surface settlements, living on the surface instead of beneath the ground.

The gnome build is intended for surface-only settlements with wooden housing.  The dwarves will bring along a pick for use in digging basements and moats, but will not otherwise dig deep into the earth: the culture is supported entirely by wooden buildings, so ideally a settlement of this sort will be built in an area with a significant quantity of trees.  The dwarves are not so foolish to never dig into the ground, but will only dig for resources as much as ordinary humans would, preferring to support themselves through surface agriculture, river fishing, and trade.  A dwarf village such as this will develop very slowly and your population count will be very low.
