Does the game uses steam integration to check for updates? Or do we need to install a new version of the mod (via steam or otherwise) and will get the update notice if loading a save for which mods were enabled? (presumbaly by checking the current version in game/data/installed_mods vs available in game/mods) --[[User:Jan|Jan]] ([[User talk:Jan|talk]]) 00:21, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

mod example request

It could be nice if we had some basic mod example people can view, play around and or use to adapt for their own needs. The one provided in the release modding guide is a good start but i'd rather it not have a vanilla id as this prevents it from showing in-game. --Jan (talk) 09:37, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

I don't know if the wiki can host compressed folders for people to download, but the example on this page has now been changed to fix the "vanilla_" prefix issue. --Voliol (talk) 11:42, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Compressed/zipped folders, you say? From extremely cursory research, it looks to be a 'wiki upload blacklist configuration required' thing ([1]) - comments if you please, Lethosor? Silverwing235 (talk) 13:28, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

It doesn't have to be hosted here. DFFD is much better suited for this. Here is a quick mockup of what I had in mind, you can upgrade with the examples to use with modding guide. --Jan (talk) 16:41, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

Enabling Mods in existing world

The wiki page currently states that mods can only be added before world generation. However, there is a way to enable graphics-only-mods at any later time by pasting the contents of the mod-graphics folder to the data\vanilla_interface folder (see here). This may be helpful to some people, but has the disadvantage of being a permanent change for all worlds as well as not being the "official" way. Should this info be added regardless? How does mod updating works?

Does the game uses steam integration to check for updates? Or do we need to install a new version of the mod (via steam or otherwise) and will get the update notice if loading a save for which mods were enabled?
