The building list screen is accessed from the main view by pressing Shift - R. A list of the buildings (along with their owners) is displayed, along with any differences in actual value and perceived value by the owner (due to material preferences). If a room in the list appears in red, then it is a room which overlaps with some other defined room-space, drastically reducing the quality value of these rooms.

On some buildings, specifically those that need the architecture skill to be built (trade depots, bridges, archery targets, furnaces, pumps, roads, etc.), the quality levels of both the design and the construction (as well as the names of the dwarves involved) can be viewed by pressing Enter. The building's material is determined by the oldest selected base item (that is, the chosen bar/log/stone that has existed in your fort the longest).[1]
