::I am using 40d16, what are you using? because you MUST set them to available or else the trainer will cancel the job. having a uncaged tame dog is NOT enough to start the job. Yes, i know adoption deals with availability but if the only thing i change is the availability of a animal for the job to complete it's very easy to draw this conclusion. --Enjia2000 00:55, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

:::I just did a brand new embark, bringing a dog, a dwarf with animal training, and enough materials to build a kennel. I built the kennel, verified that the dog was NOT "Available", then ordered a war animal trained. The dog became a war dog. This was done using 40d. --Quietust 00:52, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

::::In case you doubt me, I've recorded a video here. Note that, in said video, the first dog frequently walked away from the kennel while being trained, likely forcing the trainer to start over (probably due to low skill, not being able to hold the animal's attention) - with enough interruptions, it might be possible for the task to cancel. --Quietust 14:25, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
