I get the impression that it's a relatively new change, but the elves have no problem whatsoever with items made or decorated with bone. They just can't stand wood at this point (which probably explains the low fertility rates of those tree-huggers). -Fuzzy 09:35, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Craft Value
Is it even possible to make glass crafts? I've looked through the task list and while I can make toys and instruments out of glass, I don't see crafts in the list. --Quietust 22:09, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

: Strange how long this wrong info was in the wiki; same (or the other way round) for toys and instruments. Maybe it was different until a recent version.. --Höhlenschreck 22:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

If you do have craftsdwarves of varying skill then you might notice that there is a differing value for specific craft items of specific quality. When I say crafts here I mean undecorated bone/wood/stone idols, crowns, amulets, rings, earrings or bracelets.

The sub-pages for various sub-types of crafts (crowns, rings, etc.) were mostly redundant, and contained some incorrect information (for example, they implied that scepters had a higher value than mugs, and that amulets could not normally be made from cloth - neither of which is true).  I have moved everything from those pages onto this one and replaced them all with redirects to here.  I considered doing the same with the instrument and toy pages, but I'm not sure how much we want to cram onto one page. --LaVacaMorada 08:21, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

The basic value is always 10 for "no label" quality, 20 for well-crafted, 30 for finely-crafted, 40 for superior, 50 for exceptional and 120 for master work.
:Since they're all directly related, I'd say go for it. mug too. These are all much of a muchness, filling the same function in the game. Maybe have them all redirect to a new umbrella article, trade good or export good or something sim, which are terms used variously in these articles currently and covers them all nicely.--Albedo 09:02, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

However the "Value" that you can trade it for is different for the craft items, it is a percentage of the basic value. For idols it's 120% of the basic value, for crowns it's 110%, for amulets it's 140%, for rings it's 120%, for earrings it's 90% and for bracelets its 100%.

So if you're lucky your best craftsdwarves will make masterwork amulets (or if you're really unlucky your stupid nobles will claim all the amulets for themselves). --Stinhad Limarezum 22:22, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
