- A tiny winged creature that hunts at night and rests in caves during the day.
One of the many tiny vermin encountered in Dwarf Fortress, bats are subterranean creatures that fly about in both natural and dwarf-made caves. Dwarves may either absolutely detest bats or admire them for their haunting cries. Should not be confused with the bat man.
Purposes of bats
- Giving your dwarves pleasant and unpleasant thoughts
- Giving your cats something to do
- Being captured and tamed
- Chewing on food storage containers
- Appearing in engravings and statues
