This article is about an older version of DF.

Fortifications are a special type of Template:L. They allow the passage of Template:L and liquids but not Template:Ls, making them an important part in a fortress's Template:L. Creatures with a [FLIER] tag can of course fly over and avoid these walls. One can build Template:L tiles to make a roof against flyers.

Building Fortifications

Fortifications can be built one of two ways. Firstly, from preexisting stone walls; either constructed by Template:L or left behind after having been Template:L. This is done by pressing designation and then Carve Fortifications. It must be noted that rough natural stone walls cannot be carved into fortifications, only smoothed or engraved stone. The second way is through the Template:L Template:L: First press b, then C followed by Fortifications. As with most Template:Ls, this will require one unit of Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, or Template:L. Note that constructed fortifications do not have walkable Template:Ls above them, while carved fortifications do.
