40d:Plump helmet
Plump helmets are fast-growing purple mushrooms which are the staple food crop of most fortresses and one of the six known subterranean crops. They are edible raw, but can also be cooked in a kitchen or brewed into dwarven wine. Keep in mind that cooking the plants destroys their seeds, or in this case their spawn. Out-of-hand eating and brewing leave a plump helmet spawn behind, which can then be transferred to a seed bag and used to grow crops.
