"One Humane man trap with treadles (.) and keys complete" (ocm); brought to New Zealand by and used by Mr John Edgerley Snr. c.1845-47 See photographs in JD Richardson Album Vol. 2 (Album 2), p82. Photographs taken 17-10-27 "Man traps belonging to Mr Edgerley of Newmarket. Used by Mr Edgerley's father at Newmarket, 1840, to try and catch Maoris who were stealing potatoes."
