☼MASTERWORK☼ Dwarf Fortress (MDF) is a mod package that makes Dwarf Fortress 4 times as big, but still keeps true to the original atmosphere of the game. It adds 110+ Buildings, 2000+ Reactions, 1000+ Creatures and up to 35+ races. It includes a selection of Utilities and 2 playable race plugins: Orc Fortress and Kobold Camp.

The Masterwork mod uses a system of generic materials: Leather is only called leather. Not "creature-name" leather, but only leather. Same for silk, hair, milk, meat and blood, bones and wood. You won't have to scroll through 50 building materials in your list, but only 10. This is one of the few features of MDF that can't be turned on and off. Together with some other performance improving tweaks, MDF could increase your Frame rate by about 25% from vanilla Dwarf Fortress.

There are a wide range of tough enemies to up the challenge level, exotic materials, new industries; even threats from within the fortress like diseases and hostile cults. Religion, Guns, Mages and Slaves. Runes, Mithril, Automatons and Raptors. There are Libraries, Garrisons and Guildhalls to skill up your dwarves. In version "3f" a magic system was added. Add only the parts that appeal to you; most settings can be customized by the player with the included Masterwork Settings.exe user interface. You can enable and disable parts of the mod just by pressing a button and generating a new world.

There are lots of new materials -- iron, silver and steel weapons are just the beginning.
Ranged weapons
You can create bows, upgrade all ranged weapons and make specialized ammo from wood or bone. The Fletchers Workshop is the advancement of the bowyer.

Bows require wood and thread to be made. You have two kinds of upgrades available for ranged weapons, you can either bayonett them using a large dagger, or add 2 mechanisms to them to increase their rate of fire. You can even do both if you wish, creating a bladed repeating weapon.

The ammo comes in three types, broadhead (cutting damage), hammerhead (blunt damage) and piercing (piercing damage). In essence they work the same as sword, hammer and spear. You can make bolts, arrows and javelins from wood and bone. You can find the metal counterparts of this ammo in the Ammo Caster among the furnaces.

The Bonecutter's Workshop is essentially a mason's workshop that uses stacks of bones in its reactions. The workshop will consume whole stacks of bones at a time, so it is recommended to run the "bone stack (separate bones)" reaction in the Craftsdwarf's Workshop beforehand.

You can use stacks of bones to create all sorts of items and furniture here, with one stack resulting in a single item. Most notable item is the bonerattle, which needs 10 stacks. It can raise all the dead on the map. Use it in the Tavern.
From within you can create two kind of metal: Ironbone needs 2 ash bars and a stack of bones and is equal in strength to iron. Bloodsteel needs 1 ironbone bars, a barrel full of blood and 2 bars of ash. It is equal in strength to steel. Drow caravans trade both of these materials as well.
Cutting wood
Only needing a block to be build, this workshop should be constructed early. It automatically queues reactions for smoothing rough wood logs and cutting gnarled roots. Both reactions have a 10% chance to produce a pile of sawdust or tree acorns. Acorns allow trees to be planted in farmplots, and sawdust allows the making of plywood. Both require the Sawmill. If you dislike having the sawdust around, a free reaction can clean/destroy it for you.

Cutting logs into planks gives you 4 wooden blocks that can be used in constructions, but not in workshops. Good for walls and floors.
Entertainment
The tavern allows twelve songs to be played. All of them last for 1 month, except clean and raise dead. Only one song can be active on each dwarf, they don't stack. They temporarily add tags to the nearby dwarves. You need one instrument for each song, with some only gained through trading with humans, elves or drow. Please beware that the dead raised by the Bonerattle are of course hostile to all living creatures.

Your bard will stay motionless in the tavern for the duration of this one month. He cant move, but will fight if attacked. All dwarves within 25 tiles can hear the songs.
Songs
* Speed (+25%)
* Courage (nofear, noexert)
* Battle (+15% strength, agility endurance)
* No Food/Drink (no food, no drink)
* No Sleep (no sleep, no stun, no paralyze)
* Sleep (fall asleep immediately)
* Clean (all blood/ichor/vomit/mud etc is cleaned)
* Horror (vomiting for a short time, after that immune to nausea, dizziness and fever)
* Fighting (likes fighting)
* Dance of the Dead (all corpses come to life)
* Controlling (calms berserking dwarves, slows and give noemotions)
* Luck (250% more luck)

Gambling
Gambling takes copper, silver or gold coins and has a somewhat random chance of winning more, or losing your money. It always takes 500 coins for one reaction. You can also exchange 1000 copper coins for 500 silver coins, and 1000 silver coins for 500 gold coins.

Brawls
Tavern brawls are training reactions for mostly misc combat skills. You cant train armor or edged/ranged weapons, but things like fighting, striking, kicking, dodging are included. These need random tavern items as reagents, like tables, chairs and flasks.
av
Soapmaking has been moved to this new location.

Create saltpeter from potash and brimstone from gypsum. Both together allow you to create black powder. Each reaction gives you three black powder pouches. These are needed for landmines, guns and even in the expedition system. The Chemist also extracts glycerol from plants or seeds.

Glycerol is the base material for explosives. You need to refine it to nitroglycerin, which can be used for dynamite. Dynamite ammo is extremely potent. If the ammo gets stuck in a target, expect a massive explosion.

WARNING: Explosives and dwarves don't mix well. You might want to build this somewhere secluded, because you never know what will happen. You might also want to surround it with fireproof materials.
You can work the rare Gems of Armok here. These create unlimited water (Tear of Armok), unlimited magma (Blood of Armok) or a multitude of metal bars (Bone of Armok)

You can also creature artificial gems. Take green glass and gold to create emeralds, clear glass and gold for rubies and crystal glass and gold for diamond.

Last part is the transmutation of metals. Take a flux stone as catalyst and two metal bars, to create one bar of the next metal. It is a cycle that allows acces to all base metals in the game.
The bonecutter's workshop is for evil overseers. It is also needed to create the materials to build the Church of the dark Depths. It focuses on using the remains of killed enemies to build your fortress with it.

You can create two kind of metal. Ironbone needs 2 ash bars and a stack of bones and is equal to iron. Bloodsteel needs 1 ironbone bars, a barrel full of blood and 2 bars of ash. It is equal to steel. Drow trade both of these materials as well.
You can use stacks of bones to create all sorts of items and furniture here, with one stack resulting in a single item. Most notable item is the bonerattle, which needs 10 stacks. It can raise all the dead on the map. Use it in the Tavern.

Temples, Guns, Mages and Slaves.
