Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

Petrified wood is a brilliant red stone found in small clusters in sedimentary layers, which is magma-safe. Petrified wood is no longer wood, but stone, so you cannot make wooden items from it. Treehuggers will be perfectly happy to trade items made of it, as well. Petrified wood is notable for being the least dense non-economic magma-safe stone.

D4Dwarf.png This article or section has been rated D for Dwarf. It may include witty humour, not-so-witty humour, bad humour, in-jokes, pop culture references, and references to the Bay12 forums. Don't believe everything you read, and if you miss some of the references, don't worry. It was inevitable.

While it is possible to create slabs out of petrified wood, these slabs possess no remarkable properties, and certainly not any that would transcend the pataphysical bounds of the game's world. Bay 12 has shown no indication that they will be made unobtainable in a future release.
