This article is about the current version of DF.

The Willow is a type of above ground tree that is found near only rivers, pools or other water. It is found in nearly any biome that has trees. Like the overwhelming majority of overland trees, willow wood is brown and produces brown products.

With a density of only 390 (compared to the "generic" wood density of 500), this tree also provides the 4th lightest type of wood in the game, making it preferable for a variety of uses. Compared with lighter woods*, willows have the benefit of growing nearly everywhere, while others are relatively rare.

(* Feather tree wood is the lightest in the game with a density of 100, candlenut second at 140, and kapok wood weighs in at third with a density of 260.)
