v0.31 Talk:Vomit

From Dwarf Fortress Wiki

Now, this is going to sound odd, but I have a question about the color used for vomit.

We all agree that vomit should be green in game. But while playign around with the values for the default 16 colors, I accidentally found that the vomit in my game chose a brown color.

I assume this is related to the way that dyes do not adhere strictly to the 16 default colors, but have their own defined RGB. Much like dyes, I believe that vomit has something like a dye token /RGB value and must pick the closest match of the available 16 colors.

The real question is, what is the RGB value given to vomit? That would help my efforts to make new, pleasing color schemes. -Coaldiamond

Earlier memory analysis (which was not widely published beyond v0.31 Talk:Material token) indicated that the VOMIT material uses the color token "DARK_GREEN" as defined in "descriptor_color_standard.txt" - whichever color's RGB values are closest to 1/50/32 will be used. --Quietust 03:14, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
I don't always pay too much attention to color, but I think I've seen vomit as bright green, dark green, and brown. Perhaps it's shade is affected by time of day/amount of light?--MightyJAK 18:37, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
