Installation[edit]

  1. Save the image locally (On most browsers, right click on image, then select something similar to "Save image as...")
  2. Convert image to 24-bit BMP. (Use your favorite image tool or you can use something like WinXP's Paint. Open the image and select "File->Save as..." then change the format to 24-bit BMP)
  3. rename the file "humans.bmp"
  4. If you have DQ (v0.94) installed, backup the existing humans.bmp in raw/graphics/main from your DF base directory.
  5. Then copy the new file into raw/graphics/main
  6. If you have DQ (v0.94) and wish to keep it compatible, installation is done (unless you want to update the text data which may make it not compatible with original DQ BMPs. see Text Data section for details.). If you don't , or wish to incorporate any new changes that may be different from DQ, you need to create a new text file in raw/graphics (name it anything you want, but for clarity, consider "graphics_race_humans.txt"). Then, open it in some editor, copy the data in the Text Data section below and paste it into the file. Save the file. Also make sure that no other text files in the raw/graphics contains the entry "[CREATURE_GRAPHICS:HUMAN]". If it is found, it has to be disabled (either by moving the file elsewhere, or by removing the conflicting entries)

Note: Differences from DQ(v0.94)

  • in the last column (column 11), Veryinkey's Dystopian Qantas (v0.94) lists them from top down as COUNT, COUNT_CONSORT, BARON, BARON_CONSORT, DUKE, DUKE_CONSORT, KING, KING_CONSORT, which is strange because I thought it would be more natural if it followed an order of increasing rank (but Count is actually higher in rank to Baron). So in my work, I actually swapped position of BARON with COUNT and BARON_CONSORT with COUNT_CONSORT. The text data at the image's page differs from DQ's in this respect as well. But even without changes to text data, it should be fine as there is only one type of baron/count/duke at any point, if most people are like me who can't be bothered to distinguishing such nobles beyond that they are bags of troubles ;)
  • I'm assuming that tile at 9:4 which was previously unreferenced refers to the CAPTAIN_OF_THE_GUARD. This is also recorded in the text data section, which is another area the text data differs from DQ's original.
  • Specialized champions for guards and royal guards. Although a copy of the champion tile is still kept at 0:5 for compatibility with DQ v0.94, the new designated positions for CHAMPION:DEFAULT is 0:12, CHAMPION:GUARD is 0:14 and CHAMPION:ROYALGUARD is 0:16
  • Added some additional entries for skeletons and zombies.
